This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for (www.aseanconsumer.org) and applies solely to information collected by this Website.

  1. The ASEAN Secretariat, on behalf of the ASEAN Committee on Consumer Protection (ACCP), (hereafter referred as “Website Administrator”), administers and is the sole owner of any information collected on this website.
  2. This site uses "cookies" for the purposes of improving user access to the Website by identifying repeat visitors, and collect aggregated information about user interests and demographics.
  3. This Website contains links to external websites. The ASEAN Secretariat and the ACCP is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of linked websites.
  4. Specifically, for the Learning Management System (LMS):
    1. Upon registration, the Website and its Administrator collect the user’s full name, e-mail address and password. These will be used for the purpose of; (i) keeping track of the progress of the courses taken on the platform by the system, and (2) providing a digital certification of completion. User data will not be shared with any third party;
    2. In the users’ respective profiles, they will also be able to opt to provide additional demographic data, i.e. country of origin. This optional data will be used for internal purposes of gaining statistical insights and will not be shared to any third party; and
    3. User data will be stored for up to up to 5 years (since the user’s last login).
  5. Specifically for the ASEAN Consumer Complaints Function:
    1. The Website collects the user submitted data (full name, email address, phone number, gender, nationality, ID/Passport number and current location) and the user’s complaint which will be shared with relevant national consumer protection authorities within ASEAN and relevant parties in the ASEAN Member States’ consumer protection framework for the purposes of processing and resolving the complaints only.
    2. The Website Administrator stores these data on the Website servers for internal monitoring and evaluation processes of the complaints.
